#48: Involve people

“Tell me and I’ll forget. Show me and I may remember. Involve me and I’ll understand.” is a famous chinese proverb. Benjamin Franklin modified and stated: “Tell me and I’ll forgot. Teach me and I may remember. Involve me and I’ll learn”.

To get sustainable results from your consulting work, you have to make your client, co-workers and teammates understand and learn. Therefore, rule #48: Involve people.

Get your teammates, co-workers and client’s employees engaged in your work. Let them participate. Involve them and you’ll help them understand and learn. Involve them and make them own the work, deliverables and the achievements. Involve them and you’ll be able to deliver sustainable results.

Thanks and credits to Jan Petter Hemsborg at Eika Gruppen IT pushing and reminding that involving people counts.
